I have changed my password using the tools options menu-items. It will not work after restarting thunderbird.
After changing my password to one of my e-mail accounts, using, tools->options->passwords, Thunderbird refuses to open my e-mail account, a second time, after logging out and logging back in. A dialog box appears and asks for the password.
After entering the password into the dialog box, and pressing enter, the specified account is opened, and it functions
as normal. After checking the tools->options->passwords field, the correct password, is in tact but Thunderbird refuses to retain the password. I do not wish to use wallet or a master password.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Version is 45.8.0 Win7 Pro x64
thanks

Hello Airmail
I figured out the problem. I did not select the check box "Manage password with password manager" before. This Time I did. Then I went into tools-options- passwords to double check. Apparently Thunderbird changed the prefix to my account and added a whole other line .... from "SMTP:/MAIL.PINN.NET. blah blah blah" to "MAILBOX:/PINN.NET.blah blah blah"
Thanks tlwthomas

Did you change the password with your email provider? If not you need to.
Hello airmail
Yes, I had to change the password with my mail provider. That is the reason that i had to change it in Thunderbird. Thanks anyway.
Stop putting spaces at the beginning of sentences in this forum. It makes your posts hard to read.
I am not sure I understand your second comment about checking the Thunderbird password screen and the correct password is there but Thunderbird does not remember it. It is either there or it is not.
The master password in Thunderbird protects access to the password screen and it has nothing to do with logging into your email account. Wallet is not part of Thunderbird so again, not related.
Who is your provider? Have they implemented any security measures that require you to generate an application specific password to use with 3rd party clients?

hello airmail, sorry about the spaces never posted before. Like previously stated. I have solved the problem. Thunderbird uses a new format in the tools-options-passwords listings dialog box from the previous entry.
