How do I restore tabs/windows from a previous (crashed) session when there is no restore button, and no history

Hello,

I am in the process of writing research papers, and had multiple (2-3) windows with multiple tabs open displaying links to database articles for my research. Mozilla has crashed three times over the past couple days and each time, I have not been able to recover my tabs (and therefore, the hours of work I'd put into finding articles). I tried going back and finding some of the articles, but I know I am missing a lot.

I have been putting my computer into hibernate instead of shutting down at night so that I can keep my mozilla tabs, but this morning when I turned on my computer/woke it up, Mozilla was closed; there was no crash, I did not x-out of my windows before hibernating, but Mozilla was not open, and when I opened it again, there was no recover or any indication of my previous session.

My history folder is empty; my settings are set to delete all browsing history after firefox closes. Is there a way to recover that history, especially after crashes? Can I look at mozilla's crash report? Would that help?

I have looked here and people keep referencing sql something-or-other but I have no clue what that is or how to access it; the links keep sending me to sites where you obviously need to know what to do/how to find things in order to use them or find the data you want. And nothing seems to deal with recovering when there is not history otherwise. I don't even know if the sql thing would be helpful here.

In terms of add-ons, I have Colorful tabs; would they have some way of tracking/recovering my previous tabs? I'm grasping at straws but...

At this point, I can't keep wasting time re-doing hours of research for the 4th time. Is there any way to get my tabs back?

You can check if you can restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
