I hate having my browser closed against my will and having it try to install an add-on that I did not ask for nor want and that I did not give permission to start downloading and put on my browser. I don't know what Media Player is but now I hate it this product with a furry because it has try to basically *** it's way on to my browser and it keeps restarting my shit. I'd appreciated that in the future, your add-ons come with a message with a yes or no button asking if we want something new or not and when we click no, No means no, don't ever try to install it again for I have zero interest in your product and would like to not have it forced onto my browser.

And yes this experience has mad me very angry for this has happened at least seventeen times and it seems like its going to keep happening until I complain about it.

Have a nice day.

We're sorry that you are having issues with Firefox.

Just so that you know, Mozilla is not responsible for third party add-ons/pluigns like the one that you are talking about.

Unless you have an infection on your computer or another add-on is tricking Firefox into thinking that you want the Media Player, this problem should not occur.

Please try scanning for an infection on your computer. You can use any of the following free programs.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Does this solve the issue?

If the above does not work, we need to try Firefox in Safe Mode to determine whether the issue is indeed caused by another add-on.

To go into safe mode, please try the following steps: (If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:
FirefoxSafeMode

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Is the issue still present in Safe Mode? Please let us know.

If none of the above works, the issue could be caused by a program that you have installed on your computer.

Some programs like media players, have an option to install a Firefox add-on when you install the program. Some programs do not have this option, but may still install an add-on.

If you do not have the add-on/plugin installed, the program will attempt to install itself in Firefox. This would explain why it is installing without your permission because the program is telling Firefox that it already has your permission.

If this is the issue, we would need to track down the program causing the issue and reinstall it with the add-on option disabled.

If nothing else works, you can also try resetting Firefox to its factory settings.

Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

you're problem is caused by malware active on your pc and not firefox: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

due to your continued violation of our forum rules (do not insult other forum members and watch your language!) and no apparent desire to cooperate in troubleshooting the issue, i'm also going to lock this thread. feel free to come back once you are able to discuss in a civilised manner and when you're willing to follow advice to address your malware problem!
