Can't export bookmarks from OSX.9 Mavericks to OSX.6.8 Snow Leopard
I am trying to transfer the bookmarks from FF 25 running in OSX Mavericks to FF 25 running in OSX Snow Leopard on another partition of the same computer. The .JSON or .html files generated in Mavericks by Backup / Export features, will not import into FF in Snow Leopard. Selcting them has no effect. Neither can I open the html files in a browser tab in either Mavericks or Snow Leopard. Trying to open or import the .html files in Safari in either OS doesn't work either - it just tells me I have no permission to open the file (permissions have been checked, they are ok). I am stumped. Can anyone help me please. Ernst Gruengast

Thanks for the tips.
I had tried this but after a bit of fiddling I have found the source of the issue.
When I create the .json /.html files the permissions read "me" as owner and "Everyone" with no access. I had already changed this in Mavericks so that "Everyone" with rw permissions. But when I reboot in Snow Leopard under exactly the same username) and look at the info box for the two files on the USB stick, the name of the owner has changed. It still read "Everyone" with rw permissions, but wouldn't open. I had to add another permissions condition with my name and give it explicit rw access, then it worked.

Did you try to change the owner of the file(s)?
You can also try to save the files to a medium (USB stick) that doesn't include storing permissions.
