Sometimes when I'm on the internet, I'll try to load a page but be faced with the 'connection was reset' page. It happens a lot when I try to use Hotmail, usually when logging out of my email account, but it also happens on all other sites. Usually, the pages load correctly after 5-10 times clicking the refresh button, after loading a few times without proper formatting. It started about two days ago, and would only happen after about 7pm GMT for a few hours, but now it seems to do it all day long. I've updated all my add-ons, uninstalled and re-installed Firefox, and tried turning the router / modem off and on again. Can anyone help at all?

Hi,

You can try setting No proxy in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings.

If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. Please see this.

AV/Firewalls Configuration

You can also try to temporarily disable the security software's web scanning for a few minutes and browse a few known sites to check.

Such a reset message is usually done by the server on the other side.
It is possible that your ISP has bandwidth issues and is dropping the connection.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

You can also try to reset (power off/on) the router.
