Did you actually install TenFourFox?

Your UserAgent string in Firefox might be messed up by another program that you installed.

type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.
Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
Then restart Firefox

For an unofficial Firefox 4 compatible version that runs on a PowerPC Mac with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:
Firefox 3.6.x (Mac OS X 10.4 and later) can be found here:
Hi Corel, I have now downloaded TenFourFox which is brilliant. I was so worried about online attacks. Thanks again for your quick reply.
You're welcome
Let me try to explain my situation once again: I downloaded FourTenFox G5 version 8.0. It's in my applications file. However, when I try to retrieve my E-mail via Yahoo via Firefox, I find that the About Mozilla Firefox window still shows Firefox version 3.6.13. It looks as if I'm still on version 3.6.13, not FourTenFox version 8.0. My question is: what do I still need to do ?

I got to the bold-faced preferences. Now, where do I locate Reset ? I am getting closer and closer to quitting Firefox for Safari.
Thanks to the-edmeister and others. I got some additional help locally and found out how to right-click on my Mac. I also got a plain text definition of "useragent" from my local helper, much easier to understand than the Wikipedia computerese-laced version. Then, I went through the list of preferences, reset the bold-faced ones, and restarted the computer. Already, I can see an increased speed of operation on Firefox/TenFourFox. Think I'll stay with it.
