Suggestion - Middle click scrolling should not deselect previously highlighted text

You can use the mouse to highlight text and use the scroll wheel (up/down) to go through the page. This will not deselect the text/remove the highlight.

But if you middle click to scroll (to get smooth scrolling) the text is deselected.

I don't see why this is necessary, the highlight should be maintained. Of course, middle click should still open clicked links in a background tabs.

The Mouse button and scroll wheel setup is with the mouse driver not with Firefox. Mine mouse does the same actions yours does. So not sure what exactly your trying to do here.
