Do I have to use Quantum. I do not want to leave the addons that use "56"

Quite a few of my add-ons are legacy versions. I do not want to lose them as quite a few have no comprable version in 57/Quantum. Do I have to switch to Quantum? Will I be automaically switched to Quantum if I do not "select" it by a certain date?

What are the most essential add-ons that do not have replacements and if they have a lot of features (like Tab Mix Plus), which are the features critical to you?

I don't know how long you can postpone the update. I only clicked the "Not Now" for about two weeks, until NoScript was functional.

You will be force updated. 56.0.2 and below are unsupported and insecure and hack-able. 57.0.4 has security for this :

I would hope you have your Windows updates for it, Intel/AMD should have patches for your cpu chip soon. (also phones/tablets/laptops) info:

Version 58 brings Multi-Thread Support - faster Look up new or search for same extensions here :

You should get this done before :

fyi:

Al you have to do is come back and ask for help figuring something out. I hope the info above provided you with some incites and curiosity to move forward instead of backwards.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

jscher2000's solution was not my "chosen" solution. It should have been Pkshadow's solution.

I tried a version just past the 56 version and yea, I can't live without my TabMixPlus extension. I ended up installing 10 tab extensions to try to cover as many bases as I could but to no avail. I hated the whole experience. If the writer of the TabMixPlus extension doesn't want to update it then you guys should do a buy out from him and make it permanent code that your base can count on. That is the BEST of the BEST for tab control and I need it in my everyday browsing life so I've turned off updates until this is handled. I'm also missing my "deskcut" extension as I do allot of work on line and like having a way to save bookmarks to my desk top to share with other folks, save to my Dropbox and so forth and so on. I couldn't find any extension in the newer Firefox so until this is all fixed or what ever it's going to take I'm keeping my updates for Firefox turned off. Thanks!

Hi Richard McWolff, do you have a list of the key functions in TMP that you need replaced? Firefox 57 added an option to open bookmarks in a new tab, but the developers will need to know what users find important to set priorities.

The only built-in method is the "dragging" method:

(1) Resize the Firefox window so you can see a patch of desktop.

(2) Then either:

(A) For the currently displayed page, click and drag the padlock (or the i-in-a-circle) from the left end of the address bar to the desktop.

(B) For a link in the currently displayed page, click and drag the link to the desktop. This can result in a stupid name for the shortcut because it uses the link text, not the page title.

Hi, A biggie and really shouldn't be is a simple double click on a tab to close it. Most browsers out there have this built into the code now including most of the branches of Chrome (I really like using Vivaldi and SlimJet on occasion, both have this ability, not this middle button crap).. I'll have to think about the others.. I'm just so used to TabMixPlus doing what I need it to do all the functions I use are sort of not in the front of my mind except for the double click, close tab thing.

Thanks for the hint on how to create a deskcut. Good to know...

You can middle-click a tab with the mouse scroll wheel to close a tab. That is even one click less and you needn't select/focus the tab.

My middle mouse button is a scroll button. It doesn't feel natural to me. I even stated in my info above (middle button crap) meaning I don't like that so, no I won't go along with that. I want my left mouse button, double click to close a tab, thank you very much!
