Thunderbird newly installed. When I open application get a red message “Sorry-we are unable to communicate with our sing-up server. Please check your connection” I had uninstalled a prior version and an delited all the files and folders under “roaming/thunderbird” Uninstalled this version twice. Same problem

Can you simply cancel the error message? What you need to do is running the new account wizard, and I think the error you get is not related to that. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration

I did something else. Don’t suggest this solution for everybody. I executed “regedit” (windows registry) . Looked for “thunderbird” and deleted most instances. Reinstalled application and the problem was solved. Uninstalling left to much garbage behind.
