Try harder. But don't feel put out. The Mac never crashes, eh. I have used them for decades and prefer the Mac. But I crashed it twice weekend before last. Trying to load a neuroscience imaging software with Matlab Run Time. Took the machine to Apple. Nice guy, Henry. Couldn't diagnose the problem. Did a clean install. Migrated to OS X10.10. Don't like it. I am still having problems with the machine. But I love the machine. I hate using my DOS machine. Beside the neuroscience software I am using is open software and very UNIX oriented which suits the command line just fine. Much of the software is not ready for .10 but worked great on .9. Well, that is until the crashes. Of the crash, well the lesson for me is, if you have a crash, debug and don't go on to the next task until you have solved it. Work with Apple with the crash report in front of you.

You know, in the Oscar Wilde play, the Importance of Being Earnest he tells Lady Bracknell that he has lost both parents. "To have lost one parent can be viewed as a misfortune. But to have lost two parents smacks of carelessness." Yeah, two crashes. Shame on me.

Well, we all learn, don't we?

Great to have this forum, though. Yippee! Snoop clicking his heels in glee.

Instead of a completely clean reinstall, consider trying a Refresh first. It will at least save your bookmarks and any passwords you might have saved. This article has more info: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

If you really do want to bypass your existing settings, you can use the Profile Manager to start a new settings folder. This article has the info on that: Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles. I suggest NOT deleting your old profile right away in case you realize there is irreplaceable data in there.

Did you want to get help with Firefox crashes in this thread? I suggest continuing discussion of the font size issue in your other thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1085863

For Firerfox crashes, if you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, your Firefox may have logged some data that would help track down the cause of the problem. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox crashes - asking for support" for steps to get those crash report IDs from the about:crashes page, and then post some of the recent ones here.

You guys are certainly going the extra mile. No, the crash was on the machine. Firefox was affected as a result of the crashes.

What I wanted to do but cannot find a way to do it is to do a clean install of Firefox. I have reinstalled Firefox twice but it picks up my preferences. I cannot find where these are and I can find nothing on the Firefox website that addresses Version 41 on OS X10.10.

Don't worry. We'll find a way to get back to my favourite browser :)

Tried Profile Manager but that didn't work. But refresh did. Great. Thank you. Another satisfied user!
