Error message appears when I try to preview song in Amazon.com
I tried to preview a song in Amazon.com digital music and got an error message.
I have always been able to do this and today it changed - at first it just asked what program I wanted to open it with and asked for a default program (the option to preview in Firefox was not there).
Then I went and installed Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox plugin. It then started giving me the error message next to the preview box: 'Error 4', and 'Error' is written inside the preview box.
I then installed the VLC media player plugin - same thing.
I would like to be able to hear the previews in Amazon.com like I used to be able to.
Thank you, Toni Guderian

Some other thoughts:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Also, you might test with the video downloader extension disabled in case it also tries to grab audio. You can test with ALL extensions disabled by visiting the page in Firefox's Safe Mode. That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?

I think Amazon uses Flash for its digital music store.
When you're on the page, could you check the address bar for the plugin notification icon (looks like a small Lego block), click that, and confirm that Amazon has permission to use Flash?
If that doesn't help, could you update your version and see whether that makes any difference? http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (make sure to uncheck any unwanted extras)
