Updated Firefox today and now no access
Outlook works so I have internet access -- just no browser -- just says connecting forever. My internet explorer doesn't work either. I tried power down and back up. It doesn't matter what site I tried to access. All was fine before the Firefox update. Coincidence? Seems unlikely....

Ran a norton utility that looks for threats previously overlooked by Norton and it worked! So I am back online! Thanks!

Do these articles help at all?
Nothing is wrong with access to the internet from my husbands PC or my iPad so the internet setup is fine. Neither of my browsers work now on my PC, but I had access this morning. Outlook works on my PC which also indicates the internet is fine. Internet properties say I am connected and trouble shootings tools find no problem. I don't know what else to do.
Thanks
Hi Gloria, I'm trying to read between the lines, but are you saying you checked those articles and nothing in them was helpful?
What version of Windows are you running?
Is the problem specific to secure sites? For example, can you visit http://www.cnn.com/ ?
I read part of the articles -- they are for people who can either have no internet access or for people who have internet but not via the fire fox browser. I have no internet access via either browser, but I can access the internet through outlook.
I cannot get to any site via either browser -- same symptom (connecting forever). I cannot get to google or Facebook or any of the sites I normally use. I cannot get to the CNN site via browser. I can get to news sites and search going through the windows (I forget what those lovely little squares are called). I don't normally use that.
I am on Windows 8.1 -- the most recent check for updates was today at 6:59 AM -- so windows can get to the internet.
I have norton utilities on automatic and I am running a full scan now. While I wait for that to complete, I will read the full articles just in case there is something there that applies even though my problems do not fit the symptoms they describe.
I was a P/A for 35 years -- 10 years for HP. I think I am describing my problems clearly. However, I will be the first to say PC issues were never my area of expertise. Happy to answer direct questions directly -- you should not need to read between the lines.
Thank you for trying to help me -- I do appreciate it and will check back in after my scan completes and I have read the full articles.
