Firefox defaults to google when typing a search query on the address lines. How can I remove google and replace it with Ixquick. I removed google from the manage search engine list, but it still works on the address line.

Change search engine in address/location/awesome bar:

you must modifykeyword.url in about:config

type in the address bar about:config

then press the button i'll be careful i promise

then type in the bar keyword.url

then right-click on it, select modify, type https://ixquick.com/ (for ixquick), click OK,

exit firefox and restart-it.

Thanks for your quick reply.

  1. 1 Your recommendation worked.
  2. 2 Already installed ixquick as the default search enging.

Is there a way to have ixquick (on the address line) work similar to what google did? Type in a search query then it automatically queries in google. This would simply be a convenience.
