Cannot receive new email messages
Cannot receive new messages: Thunderbird keeps telling me that I have No New Messages when I know that I do. I can send emails So far, I've tried the following:
- Checked server settings
- Whitelisted app on my antivirus software (Malware Bytes)
- Checked Internet access
- Verified that app is connected to the server
- Reinstalled Thunderbird
ISP is not issue as my husband's Thunderbird is working.
Thanks!

Thanks, David. Your help was great, and I'm now receiving email. We had to open a ticket with Network Solutions. However, now I'm getting duplicates of every email so will tackle that next. Many thanks.

Do you see messages on the server? Maybe if you post a screenshot of your server settings, someone here may have a suggestion. Did messages previously come in and suddenly stop? Are you aware of any change that may have caused the stop, such as an upgrade?
Hi David - yes, my ability to get new messages stopped suddenly. My server settings are per what Thunderbird instructs, and I've had no system upgrades or changes to my knowledge. When I click "Get Messages", the reponse is "There are no new messages", and I know that there are. Could it be my server setting? It's currently set to the t POP 110 (default settings). Thanks.
Posting a screenshot may help, as the message indicates all is working properly. POP 110 is generally a less secure setting, but mail would still appear. Can you see messages for you on the server?
How do I check to see if I have messages on the server? I'm sure that I do because I'm subscribed to many listserves; I've sent emails to myself from another email account, and I normally receive 50+ emails a day. When I click "Get Messages", it tells me the Host is contacted and that there are no new messages. Attached is a screenshot. Thanks.
I don't know the domain of your email but, most have web access. For example, a gmail account can also be viewed at gmail.com, an outlook account can be viewed at outlook.com. If you post your server name, I (or someone) may be able to advise how to view on your account page.
I think I responded already, so you may get two responses. Use the domain name of your email account. that is usually the name of the website where you can view messages online. For example, if your account is gmail, you can see your mail by logging in to gmail dot com website. If unsure, post your domain name and I'll assist you in locating your web email host site.
Thanks. I assume that I should contact Network Solutions. We have our own email domain from them.
Thank you, David! On the phone now with our domain provider, Network Solutions, hoping to get an answer. We were able to view my inbox. There are NO emails in my inbox as of the time I stopped receiving emails. The question now is where are all my messages going if not to my established inbox?
Well, the good news is that you've identified where the problem is. If there has been any misconfiguration of your account, the messages may all have been returned to sender. Anyway, I hope all works out soon for you.

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn't forgotten your dilemma. I'm glad the mail is coming through. Do check the website, as the duplicates may be coming in there, prior to reaching Thunderbird.
Thanks for the followup, David. I'm still having problems with receiving duplicate emails. I'll check the web version. Thanks.
