I have Bitdefender total security and several times per minute for hours per day I get messages that firefox is trying to connect to an untrusted source and I'm wondering if you can help me get it to stop. It seems to happen primarily when I am using NordVPN with a United States IP address.

This is the message I continue to get from Bitdefender:

firefox.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an untrusted certificate to trends.newsmaxwidget.com. We blocked the connection to keep your data safe since untrusted certificates are issued by unrecognized Certificate Authorities.

I don't know what this trends.newsmaxwidget.com certificate is or where to find it to delete it. Can it be deleted? Is this a problem with my VPN?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

A certificate check on Qualys shows no problem with the certificate. The website is hosted on Amazon AWS servers (EC2), so maybe that is what makes it suspicious.

You will have to contact Bitdefender and ask them why they think this site is suspicious.
