Thunderbird Addon "ImportExportTools NG" not working
Hi,
I am trying to import my MBOX-Archives (Apple Mail) to Thunderbird 78.6.0 on Win10. I did the following steps:
1) downloaded and added the recommended Addon "ImportExport NG" 2) right-clicked on "Local folder" 3) opened menu "ImportExportTools NG" 4) chose "import mbox files" 5) chose a directory to search for mbox files to import (including subdirectories) 6) chose the directory on my HD containing all mbox-file (shown as mbox-directories in Win10)
then: nothing!
I also tried all other options in the dialog. But not success. Any hints greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!! fnie

Solved! It was actually a combination of both replies of Toad-Hall and sfhowes - Thank you!
An export hat to be made from Apple Mail as described in the link provided by sfhowes. Then the files called "mbox" have to be renamed and then imported using the ImportExportTools NG.
BUT: Apple Mail has a size restriction of 2.15GB where it just cuts off!!! First I did not realize that, but there were too little emails in TB. So I had to split my Apple Mail archive into 30 or so folders and export, rename and import them one by one (uff...)

re :6) chose the directory on my HD containing all mbox-file (shown as mbox-directories in Win10)
Do those mbox files have an extension eg: Inbox.mbox ? If yes, edit those files to remove the extension, so 'Inbox.mbox' now says 'Inbox' with no extension. Note: Windows may say are you sure as removing extension may make file unuseable, say yes as you do want to change it. Thunderbird mbox files do not have an extension, so this could be the reason there is an issue.
Then retry the import.

If the 'mbox' was exported from Apple Mail, you have to extract the actual mbox file before importing to TB:

Thanks Toad-Hall! The mbox files have an .mbox entension. But they behave like directories with a deep structure that in the end show .emlx files and directories with the attachments. I deleted the .mbox extension, but still the import does not start. Any further hint? Thanks!

Thanks sfhowes! Yes the mbox-files are from Apple Mail. I exported the folders as explained in the link you provided. The mbox files are much smaller (3 GB instead of 50GB) - I guess the attachments are not included in the export. After moving those files into the TB local folder directory I could see them, but no messages are shown. Any other hints? Thanks!!!
