Hi, you lost the token that Firefox uses to communicate and know what data the server holds. So when reinstalled Windows it is gone. Also It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.

If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of these article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

If this is not the case please let us know.

No Sir! My problem is not solved by your textbook and irrelevant solution Once before this time same thing happened to me; then I contacted Firefox feedback hub and in a fraction of a second my previous bookmarks reappeared.

Well sorry you did not like my 1st response and it would seem to have taken offence from it. I would then hope this one is better : it still does not resolve the fact that the token you had before you formatted is gone. That is a given, I would take it. Therefore they are gone. You should Disconnect all devices from Sync then format would have been the way to go. Do feel free to contact the feed back hub or where you would like.

Firefox Volunteer Support does not have access to Sync or your bookmarks which are gone..

Dear Firefox Volunteer! I know you have good intentions; but please listen! You're saying I should've unsynced first then format the hard-drive; but this is not necessary; Because Once before this time I was installing a new OS and I formatted the drive-C, w/o unsyncing the Firefox. Then I got contacted the hub and got my bookmarks back.

I contacted the hub last night several times; but I didn't receive any changes. I even suggested some improvements like that "tools" icon which contained "Web Developer" tools and now is removed from current version.

I had high hopes for firebox; because they claimed they are in front of the war for Open Internet and net neutrality. But I am sniffing something shady here. Apparently Mozilla has it's own hidden agenda and they won't cooperate when they don't feel like it, just like a cat!

HI there milad1,

Thank you for your question and your consideration of the recommended troubleshooting steps. I understand that after removing a devices from a sync account, then adding it to a newly formatted device with no local back up of the profile from the previous device that you noticed that the bookmarks from the account synced to the new device, but not much more.

Firefox Sync is not a reliable back up, it will sync all of the the actively syncing devices. To have a complete sync, the profiles will both need to be actively syncing.

There is no hidden agenda, just how the weave was designed.

Check the last synced date of the previously named device in the Manage Account menu from the Sync preferences in the Firefox Developer Edition on your new device.

If you have a previous backup of the Firefox profile on the previous device, you can use this as a reference Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles to restore the profile to it's previous state.
