Firefox repeatedly crashes with certain sites (but not all)
Firefox keeps crashing when trying to open the following sites: arconline.co.uk/ www.theforumbarrow.co.uk/ http://www.skiddle.com/
It does NOT crash with many others, for example: http://www.google.co.uk/ http://www.radiotimes.com/ http://www.facebook.com/ https://www.songkick.com/ http://www.bandmix.co.uk/

I've tried safe mode / disabling plugins, refreshing Firefox, emptying the cache and manually deleting almost all cookies (just kept a few for trouble free sites). I've shut down and restarted the machine along with doing the above.
For info, I have another PC still running XP that works fine.
Any help gratefully received!

P.S. It just crashed again when I clicked on the 'show details' button next to the educated guesses about my current browser!

Hi Piers, sorry to hear about the crashes. As a Windows person, I don't recognize the details of your crash reports. However, unlike cases where I recognize external software causing problems, this seems to be a problem with one or more components of Firefox.
Could you try removing the program files and reinstalling Firefox to rule out an issue with program file corruption?
According to some notes here on the forum:
- If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager: You should use the same way to uninstall it and reinstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux.
- If you originally downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page:
- Download a fresh installer from the following page (scroll down to your preferred language): https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
- Remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Then run the fresh installer and it should find and connect with your existing settings.

Thanks for the answer, and suggestion to reinstall, but it didn't help. Apart from the fact that using the package manager to remove and reinstall didn't appear to download a completely fresh copy, it seems like there's a problem with the latest 32-bit version of FF for Linux Mint anyway. It's not just me, there are a bunch of people posting on the Linux Mint forum complaining of the same thing:

As you'll see if you read these, removing and reinstalling doesn't help. Some people have opted to go back to an earlier version, or download an alternative.
As someone who's not by any means an expert user in Linux (bring back XP!) I'm not prepared to try these solutions just yet, but see what happens and whether there's an update that fixes the issue.
Are you part of the Mozilla team? If so, can you pass on to whoever might be involved that there's something serious going wrong with FF itself that needs fixing!
If, of course, you or any of the other experts here have other suggestions I'd like to hear them!
