Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, FF 48.0.2

Description: Search suggestions are not working on the search bar , no matter which search engine is being used. Suggestions from my own previous searches are working correctly.

Issue history:

After upgrading from FF 48.0 to FF 48.0.2 the Google Toolbar stopped working. I had been forcing the compatibility of this addon over the years throughout many subsequent FF updates, but this time I wasn't able to force it once more. So I uninstalled the Google Toolbar and gave a try to the Googlebar Lite. At this time the search suggestions were still working both on the search bar and on Googlebar Lite. I then uninstalled the Googlebar Lite because I was missing the possibility to create custom buttons (due to my work I need a of couple of language-based generic search options). I later discovered that you can install some language-based google search options on the search bar, so I installed 4 corresponding addons (google searches in DE, IT, ES and EN). I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was at this point that the search suggestions feature stopped working.

Troubleshooting attempts:

- Checking if the search options in FF are correct ("show suggestions..."). They are. - Starting FF in safe mode. - Deleting the json file - Creating a fresh test profile - Performing a fresh FF install (from scratch: that is, after deleting the profile folder)

Nothing helped.

To enable or disable search suggestions through the Search bar:

   Right-click on the Search Bar.
If Show Suggestions is checked, the search suggestions feature is currently disabled. Click it again to add or remove the check mark.

and if still not working then try this link

Thank you for answering. The first proposed solution has to do with this item of my troubleshooting attempts history: "Checking if the search options in FF are correct ("show suggestions..."). They are".

I may be wrong, but I guess the second proposed solution is aimed to get the same software state as performing a fresch install or creating a fresh test profile. I tried both, as stated in my troubleshooting history, an neither did the job.

I appreciate your willingness to help but I must ask you to carefully read a text before attempting to provide an answer. This will save you time and mine too.
