I wanted to check the safety & security settings for this browser and when I selected the safety & security tab I was diverted to a Verizon FIOS support site. They wanted me to sign in before they would start a support session. I tried opening and closing the Firefox browser, rebooting my computer, and could not remove this diversion. I would like to know why this happens and how do I prevent this from happening again. I am not a fan of Verizon and I prefer not to deal with them. I am currently using a secure wifi connection at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Baldwin Park California. They are using Time Warner high speed service and the TW tech support does not know why I am being diverted to a Verizon site. I appreciated an answer and a fix for this problem. Thank you. R. Are you using a bookmark to do this check?

If you use a bookmark then try to go to the main page of the site.

You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
