Trying to import calendar data - Lightning ignores the import attempt

Attempting to migrate calendar data from Time & Chaos personal information manager into Lightning. I can export data to .csv .ixp or .vcs formats.

I've attempted using Lightning's import with .csv , and with .vcs files (by changing the file extention to .ics).

In either case, I identify the file to Lightning import, click "ok," but nothing happens - no displays indicating Lightning is considering the file, no error messages, and after waiting several minutes, no change to the calendar display which would demonstrate it accepted the file.

My data files contain about 6200 records. Each record contains four fields: Data, Start Time, End Time, Description

Data in the description field have contained multiple lines.

When I open the files in Excel, they look clean. I don't see data fragments in unexpected places.

Suggestions on how I might massage the data so Lightning will import?

Thanks!

In an effort to help you I've just exported my Thunderbird calendar data to a csv file. The fields are (left to right): subject (text - description of the event), start date (mm/dd/yy), start time (hr:min:sec), end date, end time, all day event (boolean), reminder on/off (boolean). The column headings come from the Thunderbird export function I assume. I don't know about the date and time formats or whether they are crucial anyway. All the 'subject' entries are short text descriptions (just a few words at most) but that's how I keep my diary. I hope that gives you something to work on.

I'm embarrassed I didn't think of that!

Thank you for the suggestion. I will export some Tbird contacts, see if the resulting file looks as you describe, and structure the export file accordingly from Time&Chaos.

You'd need to export your Time & Chaos calendar to a format Thunderbird can import. That's the .ics format. Changing the file extension doesn't change the format.
