hi, can you please see if uninstalling firefox 44 first and then installing the 64bit version from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ does solve this issue for you?

Thanks, works now
I have a rather serious issue that could be an attempt at identity theft. Spam leaked through my IP's spam filter. Because Firefox is broken I could not report the issue available for doing so on my Internet Provider's website, which provides a spam filter. After talking to their tech sprt person the only way I could supply my report was by using Internet Explorer. This made it obvious that Firefox was the problem. The thieves have found a way to break Firefox. Not only that they've, it seems, found a way to make it almost impossible to submit a bug report on Firefox.
This is serious and should be addressed on a priority basis. I did successfully provide information to the Firefox report page, after many tries, to provide all the required info. by using different routes to get to the bug report page. One of the issues I faced was that the "Submit" button stayed grayed out, even with cookies allowed. If I tried to put in the name of the website in the test box provided and previously had described the problem, the Submit button would become grayed-out. To get past this I had to place the offending website in the box where I had described the problem.
Maybe my experience is the only of its kind. On the other hand how can it be known that there are literally thousands of others prevented from making their reports.
