I have added an image so you can see. 4 of my 5 email accounts have a "junk" & "Trash" icon folder. My primary does not. I have check settings in preferences and do not see any option to list or show them. What now?

In settings /server settings for that account what do you do with deleted messages? If you dont "move it to Trash on ...." you wont need a trash-folder and there isn't one or its a regular folder.

Do you even have a column for Junk in that account?

There is a small icon at the far right end of the header bar. Click that icon and select the columns that you want to display.

No icon. I have a column just as the attached picture shows.

So you are talking about a Junk folder in the folder pane.

Maybe you want to set up junk controls for that account.

Thank you Airmail but it appears you didn't read my full problem. I mentioned I have used all available options and settings. It is not a settings problem. The "icons" for "junk" and "Trash" are missing from the primary account. The settings work fine, junk mail IS sent to junk mail but I cannot look into the junk mail because the folder is missing. I just want to know how to get the folder back. Not how to use it.

Thanks anyway.

Have you tried to subscribe (rightclick on account-name) ?

Reasons for no junk folder. 1. You have not setup junk controls. No folder is created by default. The default action is to add a junk icon in the junk column and leave the message in the Inbox. 2. Never marked a message as junk. Thunderbird does not create some folders until you use them. 3. You are using IMAP and you are not subscribed to that folder. Gnospen explained how to fix that.

My initial joy when I did the "subscribe" thing was quickly erased when I did not see a trash or junk folder.

I have set up junk mail. I know it works because I do not receive msgs from some that I put in that setup. The trash is working somewhere because when I delete a msg it goes to the "trash" where ever it is residing.

I am using IMAP, When I try to subscribe like gnospen advised, I see all of the folders that is in my left column like I showed in the .jpg I uploaded. Oh! when I do the right-clik, subscribe thing, all of my existing folders are shown and have check marks next to them.

Thanks but still stumped.

If its for example a gmail account you have to login thru webmail and in settings / labels make sure you show trash and spam. edit

OK, progress made. Using your last I now have a "junk" folder icon. It looks like a tear drop or rain drop (orange).

Now I do not see a "Trash" folder trying the same method.
