Went through registry and unable to detect. Every time a new tab is opened using Firefox 31 it defaults to: http://www.trovi.com/Results.aspx?gd=&ctid=CT3324774&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_ctid&ISID=M4F723E95-CA69-421A-BE84-906FDC00946D&SearchSource=58&CUI=&UM=6&UP=SP8C08A51C-487A-4DF2-88D8-B81B0FF9A501 or www.trovi.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3324774&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=M4F723E95-CA69-421A-BE84-906FDC00946D&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=6&UP=SP8C08A51C-487A-4DF2-88D8-B81B0FF9A501. I ran a full scan on laptop using Norton and it picked up 3 instances of a low virus threat. Shutdown and reopened firefox and open a new tab and trovi.com was still there. I looked further in MMC and opened Options and found Internet options for Internet Explorer had been changed to default to the trovi.com site. Checked and changed Privacy tab and security tab settings, General tab back to about:blank, closed Internet Explorer, reopened Firefox and so far no trovi.com site. Redirect of browser to trovi.com site also allows popups which is what Norton detected and fixed. Mozilla suggests to uninstall and reinstall, but I went and updated to Firefox 31.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
