Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS Thunderbird v91.5.0

1--> After latest Ubuntu security, core updates 3 days ago, TB cannot connect to my imap server. my thunderbird account has not changed; gmail imap has been solid for years. My android app can still connect with the same info, so it isn't on google's side. all other apps such as this browser connect- my network is solid, working fine. I actually believe failure is in the Ubuntu update, but do not know what to look for or where to get proof, where to post it. Its own updater cannot connect either, a strong lead.

2--> ALSO: since latest TB update, TB no longer sees nor acknowledges LocalFolders' folders'/ mount points' subfolders nor their content. This extention's great function of allowing us to link in non-TB folder storage, such as NAS, to manage our client emails is very very important.

any ideas on either, thank you very much

Chosen solution

after a week of this, apparently ubuntu updated(such updates were not disabled by the inner network/ driver issue), and both issues resolved. the inner ubuntu network problem likely disabled TB's ability to get its updates, so now all is well.
