Hello Graham Perrin,

If you want to you could post this here :

Input page : https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/

Discourse  : https://discourse.mozilla.org/c/firefox-development

Reddit  : https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/

Twitter  : https://twitter.com/firefox

Facebook  : https://www.facebook.com/Firefox

In case you're interested :

This is a temporary fix, but I am hoping that they will give us the opportunity to permanently disable this new feature.

Would you do this please :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter. (ignore the warning)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

browser.urlbar.openViewOnFocus

and set its value to false

Do the same with these preferences :

browser.urlbar.update1

browser.urlbar.update1.interventions

browser.urlbar.update1.searchTips

Then close and restart Firefox.

Thanks, it's: already on Reddit (above) and Twitter. Now also in Discourse, https://discourse.mozilla.org/t/-/57491/8?u=grahamperrin

browser.urlbar.update1

Firefox will cease to respect this preference. Please see https://old.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/fwhlva/-/fmtahf2/ for an alternative approach.

    I know.

But I'm hoping that they will come to their senses.

&nbsp   For now I have disabled this "new feature".
