The last firefox upgrade caused a complete shutdown is it fixed now
After the last time I upgrades to the newest Firefox almost made my system useless! I had to take it to the fix it shop to get it straighten out!! I do not want to go through the lost time and the expense of having the system fixed again I keep getting notices that an upgrade is necessary to stay current and use Firefox IS THERE ANY GUARANTEE THAT I WILL NOT HAVE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS UP GRADE THAT I HAD THE LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been using Firefox ever since it came out with success and I am to old to change horses now!

Hi, there are no guarantees on a computer program. That would be nice though. You did not report the previous issues. It would be nice to know what went wrong the other time.
If this is a older computer with low amounts of ram and h/drive space and video card that can no longer get updates, motherboard that has never had updates and is pushing itself to run Win 10, Release Firefox 59.0.2 may not be for you.
The Extended Release Version maybe more appropriate. As I do not have any info on your system you would need to decide. 52.7.3 ESR. It will continue to get security updates until June 2018, and you can download and install it from this page:
Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after June 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because:
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Road forward : Firefox 52.9.0esr out on June 26 (same time as 60.1.0esr) will be the last major update for Firefox 52 ESR apart from any 52.9.x esr updates for security or allowed stability fixes.
Firefox 60.2.0esr will be out Aug 21 and Firefox 52 ESR will be EOL then. So people will have to upgrade to 60.2.0esr to keep getting security updates if they have not manually upgraded to 60.x.o ESR already. Firefox 60 ESR will require Windows 7, 8, 10.
Or if you think your system can handle running Firefox 59.0.2 then should again backup as per above instructions : should update this way for best results : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
Recommended Requirements for 59.0.2
- Pentium 4 or newer processor that supports SSE2
- 512MB of RAM / 2GB of RAM for the 64-bit version
- 200MB of hard drive space
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
