my laptop is clunky and slow, so when i did a recent restore of windows 7 to fix things up, i first made sure all my thunderbird message folders were saved on an external hard drive. it seems i maybe should have done some kind of 'profile backup' that i wasn't aware of at the time.

now i have a fresh install of windows 7, a freshly downloaded and installed thunderbird properly synced up to my e-mail address, but no idea how to make thunderbird 'see' the folders (which i put back in the same place they had been before) that have all my saved e-mails.

any idea how to integrate the thunderbird folders from pre-restore with the fresh install?

Indeed.

Install this add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

Note, you can only import to a POP account or to the Local Folders account, not to an IMAP account.
