I am trying to move sent messages from an IMAP account to local folders. Doing so just caused Thunderbird to hang (not responding) but only with certain folders. Creating a subfolder in the destination folder allows me to move the message to that subfolder but still not from the subfolder up to the destination folder. I have tried compacting and repairing the folders in question -- no change.

Have you synchronised the subscribed folder so that the emails are actually stored as a copy in your TB Profile? then go into Offline mode so that all synchronising is stopped. then move the stored email into suitable folders in Local Folders.
