Is there any way I can join a group chat in Thunderbird?

I can't find a feature in Thunderbird that allows me to join or create a group chat in Google Talk. Is there any way to do this? Is this feature missing? If so, it would be greatly appreciated if this feature could be implemented in future versions. I don't use Google+ or Hangouts, so it's just plain old Google Talk XMPP.

Using Menu toolbar: 'File' > 'New' > 'Chat account'

or via Menu Icon 'Menu Icon' > 'New Messages' > 'Chat account'

This isn't quite what I'm looking for. I want to be able to simultaneously chat with more than one person. For example, if I am person A, I want to chat with persons B and C at the same time, so that our chat would involve people A, B, and C.
