I have a custom email address I just created.

However, when I try to add it in Thunderbird, it says

Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account.

My domain manager gave the following message:

Hi Japanaddicts, Your email [email protected] has been successfully created.

Here's all the information you need to get started:

Login Information: User ID: [email protected] Password: ********

Email Client setup information: IMAP server: imap.japanaddicts.org. POP server: pop.japanaddicts.org. SMTP server: smtp.japanaddicts.org.

I also tried the Manual Configuration, to no help. Please advise.

Chosen solution

Try in Windows safe mode... I am guessing your firewall or anti virus is the issue, safe mode bypasses that.

Who is your email provider?

You should also verify the ports used for incoming and outgoing server.

Uh, as I said, it's a custom domain. Meaning that I've got an email address of my own on my domain, as it clearly says (@japanaddicts.org) from my domain provider.

There's no mention of the port in the email I got or on the domain provider's manage email accounts settings...

All mail servers use ports. I do not care what name you made up.

I am using Ubuntu, not Windows. There's no block-this-and-that-too firewall in it.

The port are used, I know. I just said that the website from which I created the email account doesn't give me which port to use.

Also, I tried choosing all three ports pre-given and also tried auto-detect setting to no help.
