hello, for accounts set-up before firefox 29 you would need your account name, the password and the recovery key in order to regain access to the data stored in your sync account. the recovery key is used to encrypt your data and only existed on your old sync devices - without it, it won't be possible to retrieve your old account data unfortunately.

Hi Anil,

Firefox sync has transitioned to Firefox Accounts. You can try creating a new account instead by visiting about:accounts in the url bar.

Andrew,

I am afraid Mozilla has missed out on a use case while upgrading FireFox synch to use the common account.
If a user has retained his information (passwords, bookmarks etc) on Firefox, and then upgrades to version 29 to use the new account the information stored on his device will be pushed to Mozilla cloud.
In my case I had to reinstall OS and Firefox there by loosing password, bookmarks and other info. I was hoping to get it back from the cloud. Now that I can't use my old synch account, I can't get that info back.
Is there a work around to use one of the earlier Firefox versions that is unaware of the common account functionality to make use of my original synch account ?

That hurts, but thankfully you have fixed it with FireFox 29 so that someone else doesn't get into my current situation.

Thanks for the clarification
