Firefox doesn't let me choose which app for using video playback. Instead it tries to play inside the browser, which doesn't work.
Firefox doesn't let me choose a video playback app (but I figgured out the little android button at the end of the website adress). Firefox tries to play video inside the browser, I see a loading icon, but no video. I also tried Flash player en tested youtube website (NOT mobile site) and here it tries to play but I get a scrambled / bad video screen.
Also, when this happend, I can't even play video's from my SD card (offline). Somehow Firefox messes up something. Even the preview of the video files inside my gallery, doesn't work, it shows a white square. solution: reboot phone en don't use firefox for video, but the standard browser instead.
I also just tried the BETA version, still no succes.
update: When I click the link to open the video website, fast click the STOP button, so video won't load. Then click android button to play video in an extern app. This works, but not a solution, 'cause if I wait too long to click the stop button, things are messed up and I have to reboot again :(

Ok, this was enabled for Jellybean a while ago, but this does not excuse performance:
- [Bug 787228 - Enable use of hardware H.264/AAC/MP3 decoders in Android libstagefright omx plugin for GB (edit) ]
Can you please test with this page http://camendesign.com/code/video_for.../test.html but for flash please try this help article and let me know if this makes improvements, if not we should update the article too.
- How do I watch Flash videos with Firefox for Android?
- Support for h264 playback is phone dependent, what kind of phone are you using?

I have flash already installed, last time I was testing.
I just clicked the link and it doesn't work. See attachment for a Screenshot.
In my pre installed standard browser, it plays perfectly!

We need to know what device you are using.
If you have a moment test the nightly Android build at https://nightly.mozilla.org/ will need to enable installing apks from unknown sources. Let us know if that behaves the same as the release version from the Play Store.
Hello,
sorry for the late reaction (Easter / Family visits, etc).
I just installed the nightly Android version, but I got the same problems as explained in my first post and have to reboot again (for playing offline video's again). I just have to stick to the standard browser for now :-(
I'm using this android phone: Alcatel One Touch Pop C7 (7041X) Firmware: Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Kernel: 3.4.5
It's a cheap phone, but works perfectly and even faster/better than my previous HTC phone.
This device is not on this list yet https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/will-firefox-work-my-mobile-device#w... :-( I am very sorry for the inconvenience.
I also wanted to let you know that I filed a bug on this for your specific device.
If you could add any information that I may have missed to the bug, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for the list. I didn't know about this. I thought Firefox for Android OS would work for Android, no matter what phone, because the OS is the same? Other phones with Jelly Bean, do work? Is it the hardware, which is different and not compatible?
Bummer, I'm using Firefox over more then 10 years @ school, work, private PC and previous HTC phone, but now I have to say goodbye to the mobile version! :'(
Thanks for the fast replies and support!
