There are 6 options under tabs Open new windows in a new tab instead Warn me when closing multiple tabs Warn me when opening multiple tabs as it might slow down Firefox Don’t load tabs until selected When I open a link in a new tab switch to it immediately Show tab previews in taskbar

None of them helps i have tried and tested.

Please help me on the issue.

Ask. com is still showing up when I open a new tab, but it's not listed in the add on extension section or anywhere else that I can find.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

1. open "about:config" in address bar, if u see warning just click "I’ll be careful, I promise!" 2. write "browser.newtab.url" in search box 3. right click on "browser.newtab.url" and click reset 4. finish 5. i hope this is helpful

I have the same problem. I opened about:config and followed the instructions but when I right click on "browser.newtab.url" I don't see the options to reset and finish. Do I have to perform an action listed previously to this one that will enable the reset and finish options? Please advise. Thank you.

If reset in the right-click context menu is not enabled then the pref already has the default value.
For browser.newtab.url this would be the default new tab page about:newtab.

If you do not get this about:newtab page when you open a new tab then it is likely that you have an extension that overrides this.
