Want to block specific websites causing fire fox to freeze for as much a 2 minutes-internet explorer has this capability
Two specific websites, which I am not requesting, seem to be causing this problem. They are: mediacdn.disqus.com and gravatar.com. There may be others that I have not identified. They are not being detected by the Trendmicro program which is installed.

You might want to install Adblock Plus and create some basic filters for these domains.
Gravatar is used to server images of users (or, often, just a generic image), so there's little harm in blocking that one. Disqus provides the comments on numerous sites, so if you like to read or write comments, that one could be more of a problem.
