Java dropdown bar keeps bugging me--how can I make it stop?
I use a Mac. I use it at work. I am not the administrator.
The warning drop down bar keeps telling me that my Java is out of date--but Apple updates Java, and I can't update my software. My administrator has to.
This is dumb. Why can't I dismiss that warning once and for all?

please petition your admin/it staff to roll out an update for java, since the security vulnerabilities in old java versions are also actively exploited to infect mac osx systems.
to turn off the messages about outdated plugins, enter "about:config" into the address bar of the browser, confirm the info dialog, then search for the preference named "plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin" & double-click it in order to toggle it to "true".
