I upgraded to Firefox 10, and when I opened it up, the first thing I noticed was that my old session didn't reload. Then I discovered that the back button isn't functional (i.e. it's always grey and doesn't turn black when it should/allow me to click it to go back a page), and the address bar continues to contain the last URL directly typed into it even when the page I'm on has changed multiple times since I typed it in. The browser is also freezing very frequently.

May not be related to your problem but some of your Firefox Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)

I don't think session restore is what I want here; I was expecting my old session to reload because that's what always happened previously when I've installed the latest version of Firefox and it has therefore needed to restart, and what has happened when Firefox crashes. I don't want it to always open my old session, I just want it to open my old session when it crashes or restarts.

Restoring the default toolbar set didn't really do much for me; I did realize after posting the question that my bookmarks toolbar had gone away, but it seems that the way to get it back (temporarily, because this only works in the window I do it in, and has no effect on new windows) is to go to View>>Toolbars and deselect/reselect everything I want to see.

I checked the profiles folder, and I only have one.

I also updated all of the outdated plugins.

I'm now going to try running Firefox in Safe Mode and will report back.

So, I opened Firefox in Safe Mode, and it reloaded my old session.

Will update when I figure out which extension is causing the problem.

It would appear that the problematic addon was Facebook Disconnect 2.0.2 . Hope this helps any others who were also having this problem.
