When I try to change the home page, I get a window saying that an attempt was made to change the home page and it always goes back to bear share search. How do I get the change to take effect?
I selected the home page I want, which is Yahoo.ca from bookmarks. I click on the icon to the left and drag it to the home page icon on the right. I am asked if I want to change to this home page and I confirm yes. I exit Mozilla Firefox and when I re-enter Mozilla Firefox, the home page has not changed to Yahoo.ca but is still bear share search.

Thank you for your reply but it did not help. Getting rid of Bear Share was only part of the problem. I am more concerned with being able to change my home page to Yahoo.ca than changing the search engine - that is secondary. What can you tell me about the small window that pops up in the lower right corner "an attempt has been made to change your home page" when I try to change the home page? It only lasts for about 2 seconds, barely time to read it and not enough time to click on it. I followed the instructions to change the search engine from Bear Share to Bing but it didn't work. Last year, I downloaded Bear Share to access music but uninstalled it about a month later. Please help!

That's not from Firefox. Probably a message from a security application.
You may not have completely removed all of Bear Share. There's a whole bunh of Registry keys that need to be removed.
