I am new to ThunderBird so forgive me if this answer is obvious. I am using Thunderbird to access google takeout files (mbox files) of archived emails due to limited gmail storage.

I am testing this as a solution for storing archived work emails to be accessed in the future.

When I went to "search" the mbox file, the only option was to "filter" the emails. I need to be able to search the folder, especially for body text.

Any suggestions/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

If you copied the mbox into Mail/Local Folders in the profile, and the folder appeared under Local Folders in the Folder Pane when TB was restarted, you should be able to search the folder by selecting it and then invoking Classic Search (Ctrl+Shift+F).
