Since the update 98.0 (64 bit) installed 9th March 2022, the download history window automatically pops up when a file download is complete. This did not happen before, I needed to click on the Arrow to display my download history.

I want to revert to the previous behaviour but cannot find how to do it. Can you please advise?

In Firefox 97 and 98+ there have been changes to the download panel.

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page to prevent opening the download panel on each download.

  • browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

Fred - Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I often download images that I want to work with later and the Download Panel opening up all the time was a distraction I wanted to stop.

Although not addressing this directly, your post got me thinking a bit more. I ended up using 'about.config' and changed the 'browser.download, alwaysOpenPanel' value to false.

Issue solved. Thank you.

Mozilla, do you know how ANNOYING this "feature" is? You know how many computers I have to change this on??? And on the next update, won't it just revert the change so I have to do it all over again???
