Hi,

Thunderbird: 68.7 OS: Ubuntu 18.04

Issue: Composer Text Formatting Not Remembering Format

When composing emails the default format is "Paragraph" which automatically places white space after a block of text when a line feed is entered. If I want to have the text without white space I would reformat the text to "Body Text". If I have more than one block of "Block Text", say three lines of text, one after another, and I want a blank line after the Block Text, I enter a linefeed to push a line down. What happens is the Block Text formatting is forgotten and it returns to Paragraph formatting, adding white space where it wasn't intended.

I have also seen that the size of the text is forgotten, reformatting it to another font size.

Previous versions of TB used to default to Block Text where the user is able to control email formatting and line spacing. This is the correct default composing emails and text formatting.

Thank you.

re :When composing emails the default format is "Paragraph"

Do you want to use 'Body Text' as default?

If yes:

  • Edit > Preferences > Composition > 'General' tab
  • Uncheck - do not select: 'Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default'
