Hi jacktro, sorry to hear about this problem. Do you think when you restarted and were presented with the options to start in safe mode or perform a Refresh, you selected Refresh? That would explain your profile folder moving to Old Firefox Data, and partial migration to a new profile.

It is a little bit complicated "resurrecting" the old profile folder. I'll link you to the steps for Firefox 66 and earlier, and depending on how it works, we can see whether we need to make further adjustments for Firefox 67.

See: I did a Reset of Firefox - How do i get add my 'Old firefox data' back?

This fix did not work for me(FF.67) I take it that i basically removed the data from the new profile i created and replaced with the data that was generated in the "old firefox data" folder that appeared when i performed a Refresh?

Yes, that is the basic idea. Where Firefox would have found an empty new places.sqlite database (where history and bookmarks are stored) it should have found the old one you copied in instead.

How much data was recovered, how would you compare it to where you were before after the Refresh?

88mb it was nothing like how i had FF was set up before the refresh...none of my add ons were there at all. Ive just manually re installed all my add ons and themes and got it back as close as i can so i think im sorted.

Just noticed that the "Fix" has worked in some capacity......i can see my addons/themes via tools.add-ons but none are activated and no extensions show on my tool bar.....and there seems no way to activate them, there are only options to disable or remove...all are allowed to run in private windows.

Update....Fix has worked perfectly on my FF.67.0 64 bit.... PC just needed a restart for the add ons/themes/extensions to take effect. Thanks for the time and help jscher2000...much appreciated.

Thanks. I think someone else mentioned restarting Windows this morning. Not sure why that's needed, but useful to know.
