It is explained in the release notes. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/60.0/releasenotes/

I'm not clear about the current situation. The release notes you mentioned say:

> A future version 60.1 will provide updates from earlier versions.

But version 60.3.0 is now out:

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/60.3.0/releasenotes/

In addition, the release notes for v60.3.0 say:

> Thunderbird version 60.3.0 provides an automatic update from Thunderbird version 52.

But I'm running v52.9.1, and every time it checks for an update, it still says:

> Thunderbird is up to date. > You are currently on the release update channel.

So what's going on? What the real current situation? Why isn't my Thunderbird v52 updating to v60.3?

Version 60 was a train wreck. They are doing you a favor not putting you on it. Rumor has it that next week it will start doing upgrades. If you are brave, accept it. If you are smart, wait some more.

I'm fine waiting. I just wanted to know what was going on! Otherwise how did I know if my "waiting some more" would be waiting forever. So I was in the dark.

So basically somebody needs to update the 60.3.0 release notes, because it is basically—what's the word?—incorrect. False. Not true. etc. Updates are not turned on, from what you're telling me.

So I will limp along with my v52, then, even though it is broken for certain time zones (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1237636).

Thanks for clearing this up. Why won't the Mozilla team just put up a page that lets us know what's going on?

An update from the people that know would be a good idea but so far they seem to be busy just getting Thunderbird to work. One of the mods that is also on the development council posted to a thread earlier that the bulk upgrades are going to be offered next week. You can download the new version and just install it over what you have. I would back up your profile first though. Backups are always a good idea even when things are going good.

Hi Garret, Airmail's post was marked as the solution by the person who asked the original question (johanus). The thread you are replying to is old, and the information may be outdated. If you have the same question, it would be best to start a new thread.

You should use https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new where volunteers can get more details about your setup.

Because this thread is solved and more people might start using it for their own questions, I'm going to lock it.
