Starting with FF 59 I cannot paste text from an rxvt terminal using the middle mouse button. Pasting from other terminals (xterm, konsole, eterm etc) and other applications (Libreoffice) work fine. Pasting into other applications (Thunderbird, Libreoffice etc) works too. From FF to rxvt also works.

Pasting into FF 58 and previous versions works, so it's something that changed in 59.

Thx

Many have had trouble with copy/paste between programs, Copy from the original. Paste to a 'word' type program. Now copy from 'word' to where you want to go.

Does pasting via middle-click with the mouse wheel otherwise work in Firefox?

Is that middle-click paste setting still enabled in Firefox if you check this pref on the about:config page?

  • middlemouse.paste = true

It works from other programs and terminals.

Just stopped working fro rxvt with FF version 59.0 (and 59.0.1).

So it must be something changed in that version, but I didn't found something in the Release Notes.

BTW middlemouse.paste is true. Thx

Pasting from rxvt to another terminal, like xterm (or a 'word' type program) and then copying from that and pasting into FF works, but it's not an option.

What flavor(s) does rxvt place on the clipboard?

Sounds that Firefox doesn't recognize this a valid data. Best would be to have text/unicode on the clipboard.

It's just plain text. Used to work till version 59.0, so there must be something changed then.

FYI copy/paste from rxvt works for other applications I've tested, including latest Thunderbird, Seamonkey and FF 58.0,2 and previous versions

Can you paste text in the Scratchpad?

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Are you using the Firefox version from the Mozilla server because your user agent isn't default or doesn't that version run on your OS?

Nope, but this happens with all terminals/applications I've tested that don't support copy/paste using Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V. What I do is to highlight text and then use the middle mouse button to paste into FF. I guess this is not supported by Scratchpad.

Same problem with new profile and/or starting FF is safe-mode.

Yes, I use FF downloaded from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/. As for the UA, I've customized it a bit, but even with the original UA the problem persists.

FYI, there is another one having the exact same problem here: https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/firefox-59-unable-to-copy-and-paste-from-fpm2-4175625690/#post5832081

So there is something changed in version 59.0
