uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

By the way. I know I can try to remove Fire Fox and install/download it again. But I am afraid of loosing all favourites (websites) I have saved and they are many. I have tried other options but nothing has help me. I really hope you have a good idea what I can do to get back to Fire Fox again without losing anything I have saved. I think it was after Fire Fox or Windows made automatic updating it stop working.
It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program. Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process. Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if that works.
- Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox
- Mac: hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
No it wasn't helpful. I did what the text (see file) said. I removed Firefox in the list, but couldn't find Firefox again (how much I ever tried) and wasn't able to add it. What for more options without losing my favourites.
