Deleting junk on the pop server
My email address is of the form [email protected], but anything before the @ gets sent to me eg [email protected].
Someone is using my address with random characters before the @ to spam the web, but they all get bounced back to my POP account. I get well over 1000 of these a day.
I have a filter on the server of my POP account that deletes any messages without myname before the @. This works OK, but doesn't completely remove them, but moves them to the delete folder.
I've set mail.pop3.deleteFromServerOnMove to true, expecting the spam that was moved from the server inbox to the deleted folder to be completely deleted, but it hasn't.
I can log into my mail account and manually empty the deleted folder, but it's tedious to do so.
Is there any way I can silently delete these spam messages on the server, please?

There is nothing Thunderbird can do for you,
That's all I needed to know.

I read somewhere that Thunderbird can delete/remove mail from the server with mail.pop3.deleteFromServerOnMove to true.

That means you'd need to download the 'well over 1000 of these a day' to your computer. Good luck with that.
So Thunderbird is incapable with dealing with my problem, then?
