HI

Problem with Plain Text and HTML. Here is what I have:

I use Thunderbird as a client for my personal gmail account I have my Thunderbird settings in Compose set at HTML I generate an email in Thunderbird and send to my work email account (different email address) using Outlook 2016 The email arrives OK However when I reply in Outlook the email is always generated in plain text Is there a way to have the email arrive in Outlook in HTML?

To test I have another personal gmail account in another client (EM Client) and when this client sends the email to my work Outlook it arrives in HTML and when hit reply the email generated is HTML.

Any sugegstions? Probably me being a numpty as IT not my strongest point and probably dabble far too much for my own good!! Please be gentle.....

Many thanks

Hi

I have found the issue - did not realise that even with Compose set as HTML there is also a Global settings and I changed that and all now OK.

Sorry for not delving deep enough to begin with. Happy bunny now.

Best....

Which global setting was this?

I was going to suggest to you that Thunderbird "demotes" a message to plain text if there is nothing in it that requires HTML. This leads to tricks such as including an empty tag pair just to provoke Thunderbird into treating your message as HTML formatted.
