A similar question was addressed fairly recently on this forum but I could not find a specific solution. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 & FireFox version is 41.0.1. In trying to download a software upgrade, in this case the latest version of Family Tree Maker, the download process would completely freeze, go into pause mode, then fail. This happened twice. I also had a problem downloading the latest update to my version of Photoshop Elements. Before attempting the second try I disabled AVG in order to avoid any interference during the download. The download still failed.

Is the problem in Windows 10, FireFox or the specific software? Any help is appreciated.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.
