Sync has been working great between my Windows 7 desktop and 8.1 tablet. The PC got a clean install of Windows this weekend and now Sync isn't working. I'm not getting my bookmarks/history/etc on the desktop.

- Both versions of Firefox are up to date (40.0.2) - I've read the troubleshooting and setup FAQs - I'm able to sign into Sync on both computers - When signing in, I get a popup telling me Sync will start momentarily, and a notification email. Nothing happens tho.

I suspect the problem is related to this "new" version of Sync. I have attempted to follow the "Update to the new version of Sync" FAQ, I have unlinked both devices, I have verified both are on the latest version of Firefox, but the next step is to create a new Sync account and it won't let me do that, I plug in my email and get "account already exists". What am I missing?

Did the new profile created from the clean Windows install merge with the other devices? Check the other device to see if it still has the profile data.

Did you change the password? This would stop any previous data from syncing that was not local.

If you go down that troubleshooting path, the account needs to be deleted first. However to prevent data loss you can click delete account from accounts.firefox.com then re-sign up.

Delete account, that's what I was missing. I don't know if the FAQ is unclear or I'm dumb, but everything appears to be working now. Thanks!
