The date column now shows month/day/year - how can I change this back to day/month/year?

It should be showing you the system date format setting. I can't remember if it uses the long or the short date format. (but almost certainly sure it's the short version.)
Are you saying it's different from the time/date format used elsewhere in your computer?
What platform? Windows, Mac, or Linux?
